I’m always on a quest to find a natural, cruelty free deodorant ever since I read online that antiperspirants can cause all sorts of medical issues such as breast cancer. Also, don't you hate that your white shirt gets yellow stains? These deodorants don't do that so no more ruining a good white shirt that turns into a tie dye shirt. I know that sweating is natural and we all do it but it doesn't make it less embarrassing. I tried out 4 deodorants for you to spare the paranoia that you smell bad. I tried each deodorant for a month so that I could give all of them a fair chance.
1. Tom’s Long Lasting Deodorant in Wild Lavender: The best part of this deodorant is the smell. It just smells sooo good! Unfortunately, that doesn't last. By lunch time, I’m pretty sure I didn't smell like a field of wild lavender. After the 1 month trial period for this post, I started using this deodorant as a night time deodorant after I shower. A lot of us sweat during the night and it’s a perfect scent right before bed. I ended up buying the apricot scent too because that one also smells so good. I know this sounds so weird but I started wearing that one on my feet. Ew I know but hear me out. Just like your underarms, your feet sweat too. Why not make that pleasant by putting deodorant on your foot too. I totally recommend it. Out of a rating of 1-5, 5 being amazing, I give it a 2 mostly because of the scent.
2. Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant in Ylang-Ylang and Calendula: I was skeptical of this one because I have to put it on my underarms with my fingers. I know it’s my own underarms but it still feels kinda gross. I’m glad I got over that because this works great! I think that it takes a couple days for the effect to really kick in but once you use it for a week, it’s a great alternative to an antiperspirant. I prefer the Tom’s scent but this one is a light, fresh scent that smells nice and clean if that's your thing. I give it a 4 out of 5 only because I prefer not to use my fingers to apply it. They will definitely get a 5 in my book if they made a stick version of this deodorant.
3. Crystal Body Deodorant Stick : This one was an odd experience for me. It was working pretty well for the first 2 weeks. Though I could tell I was sweating, I didn't feel smelly. But it stopped working all of a sudden after the 2 weeks. I have no idea why since there was no change. I definitely was the smelly girl at work. Also, I hated that I had to slightly moisten the top of the rock to use it. Those extra 10 seconds are precious in the morning. After the month, the rock started to turn into salt at the bottom and I literally had salt in my medicine cabinet. Given the mess it created and the lack of effectiveness, I give it a 1.
4. Meow Meow Deodorant Cream in Lavender: After using Schmidt's deodorant, I got more used to the idea of using my fingers to apply deodorant. The texture of this one is like body butter and I like it a lot. It's easier to apply and the scent of lavender is lovely and not over bearing. This one is my favorite but once again I wish they made this in stick form. I also give this one a 4.
I recommend testing natural deodorants during the colder months so your body detoxes and gets used to natural deodorant in time for spring. I would love to hear your recommendation of a natural deodorant that actually works.
